In its 10th year, the Bandit has been through a number of big and small changes that have made it one of the industry’s most successful examples of a kite that does-everything well. The Bandit’s classic medium aspect 3-strut Delta shape was the first of its kind back in the day and it has since evolved into one of the top leading delta-shaped kite that meets the needs of riders in the freestyle, freeride and surf category.
A stylish and classy navy blue (Ink Blue) material sets this suit apart from traditional black neoprene and with it’s 5.4.3 thickness variation, I noticed a thinner panel down the side which provided more flexibility and decreased weight and bulk while maintaining enough thickness in the chest and other areas where needed to keep me warm. This suit truly feels like a top of the line, high quality wetsuit, and with all of it’s preventative measures for increased durability, I’m looking forward to it keeping me warm for many winter

F-One has continued to shape the range into a true pro performance SUP Surfboard. In previous years I have paddled the 7’7 (87L) or 7’11 (95L) Madeiro SUP boards. For 2017 as the sizes and overall shape has changed a little, I decided to go up in volume and ride the 8’0 (100L) board to be more comfortable. Going to a bigger size I was worried that I would not be able to maneuver the board as well as the 7’7 or 7’11 sizes, but that is defiantly not the
Winter is coming ! and the MANERA Fall / Winter Wetsuits too ! BAKS staff member Vincent Nicolas could not wait to put his new X10D 5/4/3 to use in cold Ocean Beach in San Francisco. MANERA makes basically 2 x models, the MAGMA and the X10D. Both use the same patterns and the same neoprene foam. The difference is that the MAGMA is very warm with fleece inside and use the Square Flex skin on the outside, where the X10D inside layer is a more traditional jersey ad Re-Flex
Along with the new board bag collection, we have just very recently received the new collection of EXO Harnesses. Solosports and BAKS / F-One / Manera Ambassador Lauren Bibby scored rigth after surf expo. She is riding every day at Punta San Carlos in Baja so having her on the team is great for us for feedback. She is rocking the Alloy Glicer new color. 5 new colors total, and 6 sizes XS - S - M - L - XL - XXL. Check out what she sent back to us:
ESL stands for Essential which is exactly what F-One decided to do with this board; bringing back the original bamboo sandwich construction and eliminating the pads and inserts; for the riders who prefer a direct contact with the board and use wax for traction.
We asked Alex Caizergues, F-One Kite Speed racer, who owns the current kite speed record holder with 104.8 km/h average over 500, a few questions on the new FURTIVE kite, which has been initially specifically designed for the speed team to break records. It turned out the FURTIVE is more than just a speed kite and that's the main reason why F-One released it to the public for the 2017 season.
In summation, F-One has been making some exceptional production foils with incredible attention to detail with impeccable fit and finish. The Freeride 800 is a great entry into the Freeride category with slower foilup speeds and a overall ride that we found to be really fun for freeride carving. The metal mast option is extremely well executed and delivers a very solid feel making this a really great option for the aspiring learner who wants a foil that will serve them well into their intermediate and advanced freeride ambitions.
