After spending an entire week in a near total internet blackout, at one of the most remote locations I think I have ever been to, we headed back to San Francisco and civilisation as the end of our trip drew near. Of course there will be a full feature on our trip to the SoloSports set up in Punta San Carlos, Baja California in the next issue… In the meantime though we didn’t feel like wasting a day and so we headed to Waddell Creek to check out the action.
I’m lucky enough to be accompanying Mitu Monteiro on a trip to Baja, Mexico with the crew from Bay Area Kitesurf who are based in San Francisco. We’re off to Baja tomorrow and will be out of radio contact for a while in terms of serious upload speeds, so we figured a quick teaser would be in order, before we kiss the Internet goodbye! Exploring the Sierra Crest via kite and touring gear. With the F-One Bandit 7 and Atomic Tracker bindings, its hard not to get anywhere you'd like. For the past 4 years I've been accessing terrain along the crest and in this vid I try to show and explain this alternative method of backcountry travel.
