This winter escape to warm weather and good times. Enjoy the La Ventana Classic, a raucous, adventurous and unique windsport/paddle sport event. Set for January 16-20, 2019 in Baja Sur, Mexico, at a stunning event site situated between the azure Sea of Cortez and rustic foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range.
Speaking of starts, Sunday started with an amazing sunrise which meant no chance of rain. Then, it was time to get to the site and get your preparation started. Finally, it would be off to the ‘big start.’ Before the start, though, there was socializing and pretending nerves were everybody else’s problem.

F-One’s Josh Riccio will be hosting a race skills clinic in Sausalito, California on September 26th. RSVP before the clinic is full. This is a great opportunity to train and prepare for the upcoming Battle of the Bay Race on September 30, 2018!
The best way to describe the ensuing ten miles is side-chop. The first half of the race was 90% right side paddling and the second half 90% left side. The wind was southwest. There was chop from that combining with a south swell combining with a northwest wind swell combining with backwash. Pretty sweet. So sweet, in fact, that during the race the safety team decided to shorten the race.
