The Bandit has nice medium bar pressure that gives the rider solid feedback on kite placement and in underpowered conditions, you will detect oversheeting fairly quickly. For lift and hangtime, the smaller sizes will deliver solidly in the explosive boost category and will give you some hangtime but the latter is not really what you expect from small kites. Overall, the Bandit is a very fast, responsive all arounder that our team found to work extremely well in high wind surf.
F-One and Bluerush Boardsports Ambassador John Hadley gives us a complete review of the 2017 F-One Race Pro SUP as he competes in three races over the past three weeks! Get the inside scoop and find out what John has to say.
Well built, with a good flex the Signature Series is a very comfortable board to ride. Perhaps not as forgiving as the Mitu it excels when it comes to rail-to-rail carving and also does well in blown out choppy conditions. Big, Fast waves are where it comes alive, and when the going gets tough we are big fans of this shred sled!
Bluerush Boardsports team rider John Hadley gives us a complete rundown on the F-One 14'x27" Race Pro SUP! "It's a work horse that works for you and with you."
F-One have really stepped up their hydrofoil game for 2017 and they were pretty devoted to it last year too. They now offer a huge range of foils not just for kitesurfing, but also for SUP and windsurfing! The Freeride 90/800 set up is an easy to use platform that has been designed to offer enough performance to keep you interested for a long period of time, while still being very forgiving.
This kite completely blew our minds! It flew in barely any wind and performed incredibly well. Foilboarding on the BREEZE was so flowing and felt so easy, the power delivery from the BREEZE for foiling is ideal. Riding on a twin tip was smooth, user friendly and doable in light conditions. This kite should be on your radar if you’re a freeride, foiling fanatic. Likewise, if you’re a school or are at the learning stages then this kite flies in anything and is well worth a look.
On the water the ride through chop is sublime, the HRD rail tech works well to smooth out the bimps and reduce spray. Combined with the softer flex of the glass version you are rewarded with incredible pop and release off the water. The wide outline of the 137 and the deep channels in the bottom of the board then help to smooth the landings. We found the Trax HRD to be a very easy and forgiving board to ride.
For the last few years the trend has been shifting towards riding shorter and shorter boards which have got wider to maintain both volume and stability. But is this the only trend to follow? The 2017 NOOSA SUP has been turning heads with its sleek, traditional longboard style, beautiful color scheme and performance driven design.
I was extremely pleased with my choice of the 7’7” Papenoo Pro. If I have to rate my skills I would say they are of a intermediate SUP surfer with desire to progress. I`m 6’4” gravitating around the 200 lbs.
The Acid features a fair amount of rocker with a short but wide template, which helps make this board feel both fast and controlled when powered up. When it comes to tracking on edge through the chop, the Acid is both efficient and user-friendly, perhaps because of the reverse rounded rails (F-One calls this Helical). Despite the 3.0 fins and simple bottom shape, the Acid has good grip on the water both when on edge and ridden flat, while also giving a fun carving feel off the waves or when
With 5-struts and its higher-aspect canopy, the Furtive creates a solid airframe that sits farther forward in the window and accelerates quickly for blazing upwind performance. While the turning speed is not on par with the Bandit, this kite does generate a good amount of lift and hangtime which makes it a good choice for the progressive freerider that likes to cover distance and boost big air freestyle.
The Breeze doesn’t have huge amounts of low-end grunt, rather it’s medium pulling power and middle of the road steering pair with impressive amounts of depower on the high end which makes it a great option for riders in the beginner to intermediate stages of progression and those focusing on freeride foilboarding.
