I just returned from the South American and Brazilian Championship in Itajaí, Brazil. Racing in Brazil was an incredibly humbling and unique experience, the conditions ranged anywhere from 6 to 20 knots and the most challenging factor was the sea-sate. Just off the beach there was strong rip currents and waves anywhere from 4-8 feet, making it very difficult to get off the beach. Once off the beach, the swell was equally as large. I really enjoyed the challenging conditions and being able to race with such elite Athletes such as Bruno Lobo and Nico Landauer in such a beautiful place. I ended up finishing 3rd overall and 1st U19 at the Brazilian Championship, and taking the U19 title in the South American Championship. I’m looking forward to similar experiences that ultimately make me a better athlete.
