Young American world champion in league of his own as he takes Surf-Freestyle win with untouchable display

The 18-year-old was once again untouchable, displaying innovative and high-flying tricks on the same site where he clinched his world title last year. In the final, he threw down several Innovation tricks to propel himself to the top of the leaderboard, including a Backmobe 3 for 9.43 that sealed the deal.

Barely one month ago, Chris was winning the first stop of the circuit in Leucate, France, and was thrilled to take back-to-back wins in Valdevaqueros after this incredible performance in very different conditions.

“MacDonald, 18, convincingly won the Tarifa Wing Pro at Valdevaqueros, the site where he clinched the GWA Surf-Freestyle crown last year for the first time. Barely a month ago he won the first stop at Mondial du Vent in Leucate, France.

In Leucate it was more like 60 knots, here we were lucky if it was 22 knots, so, different conditions,” said MacDonald. “It was different riding here and I think everyone did really good. I’m just stoked to see the sport evolving and stoked with the win here.”

Big congratulations to Noé Cuyala, Luca Vuillermet and Ezio Bastianelli as well for another successful competition! All three made it to the quarter-final rounds, with Luca continuing on to the semi-final. Chris and the rest of the F-ONE Next Generation team will compete next at the Youth Wingfoil World Championships in La Palma, Canary Islands at the end of June, where both surf-freestyle and freefly-slalom competitions will be held.
