Luderitz Speed Challenge is on!

Alex Caizergues, team F-One who set a new world kiteboard speed record of 50.98 knots (94.4kph) will try to break the the current outright speed sailing record set by sailboat l’Hydroptère in October last year.

The official opening of The 2010 Luderitz Speed Challenge was marked with a ceremony at the Luderitz Bay Yacht Club on Saturday October 2nd.
Competitors from 15 different countries gathered at the Yacht Club along with prominent business people from Luderitz, The Deputy Mayor of Luderitz Town, sponsors and the media. Guests were welcomed by the event organizers, Sebastien Cattelan and Sophie Routaboul. The Deputy Mayor welcomed everyone and thanked them for their continued support in promoting Luderitz Bay not only as a tourist destination but as the new Mecca for wind driven sports.
Monday October 4th is the official start of this prestigious Speed Sailing event.
