KIKO PUTS THE NEW PAPENOO PRO 7’7 TO THE TEST IN SOCAL

I was extremely pleased with my choice of the 7’7” Papenoo Pro. If I have to rate my skills I would say they are of a intermediate SUP surfer with desire to progress. I`m 6’4” gravitating around the 200 lbs.

Are you used to that type of shape? Very short and wide, what’s your general feedback? Since I started SUP surfing couple of years back I`ve been trying to go “smaller”. At first I had concerns that the jump from my previous 8’5” Madeiro 125L would be too big, but they were blown away first time I took “Shorty” out. First time out I used the stock future fins but then I upgraded them to future Gerry Lopez Quad SUP set. Board felt pretty stable for its size and on a wave, it was a blast!! There is a nice pronounced concave channel starting about mid length at the bottom which I believe allows board to accelerate and start planning faster(planing hull design). Once on the wave it’s a blast. I found board to be faster and I felt I can carve more aggressively.
