Moving on with our performance board tests for 2019 we take a look at the widest pro board on test. The F-One Madeiro PRO 8’8” at 32” wide has got a lot of paddlers talking about it. Its a 100% performance board shape but with a user friendly width that will suit a lot of paddlers. This board is aimed at radical surfing for sure, but because of its 136L volume and wider width, many intermediate paddlers moving into more performance surfing will love it too. The F-One Madiero 8’8” is a lot of fun to surf, but as with many performance boards it loves surfing in better shaped waves the most. This is not the board for lake surfers or surfers having to work hard in smaller slow waves.
I have known Ozzy for as long as I have been going to La Ventana, in Baja, back in 2006. At first, he was the only local kiteboarder there, born in raised in La Ventana ! I remember vividly seeing him doing freestyle moves on the very first F-One Acid carbon board; he was first an instructor and then decided to launch his own kite school. He now has 4 x full time instructors and an assistant that can pick up guests via a quad or a jet ski. He recently built a super nice office to receive guests, on the main road that he shares with his wife’s business, in a great location, right behind Baja Joes and Ventana Windsport. He has been teaching my kids and many others, and is one of the best instructor I have met. His crew is highly skilled, which includes his son Ziggy who is following in his dad’s footsteps; and Luis Diego, the best local freestyler who recently won the La Ventana Classic freestyle contests. Luis is also a F-One & Manera rider. With Ozzy’s KiteSchool, you are in very good hands and you will be using the latest F-One and Manera gear. He is an exclusive F-One and Manera school. We support and help as much as we can the development of schools like Ozzy’s as well as young and local riders.
The TRAX has a long heritage and is one of the most popular twin tips on the market. It is the ultimate freeride and freestyle board with a unique feeling on the water, offering both speed and comfort. The HRD Rail plays a significant role in the way the board performs, and it sets it apart from everything else out there. Available in Carbon or Lite Tech construction- sizes: 135, 136, 137 & 140cm
Connor Bainbridge in preparation for the Hydrofoil Pro Tour La Ventana – March 11-16, 2019. Bainbridge has been preparing for these upcoming events for quite some time now and is shooting for the gold at this years HFPT Mexico.
“I was in Indo for that amazing run of swell including the biggest in many years. For three weeks we surfed and foiled our brains out and both the waves that were best for foiling are pretty hollow and shallow so it was a learning curve for me but once I got them sussed out I had a great time. I stayed in the central Mentawis with Gideon from Bilou Beach bungalows and he is the best guide around and managed to find me this amazing right hander for both surfing and foiling and it was the perfect place to test my new F-ONE equipment for both. Its great to be able to travel with one board that is perfect for small wave surfing and foiling and with some quick turns of the screws you can switch from one discipline to another. The progression of foiling is happening so fast right now and its epic to be involved in the sport as we move forward and learn.” Grant Twiggy Baker
Finally ! this is GREAT news for the sport of kiteboarding: All freestyle and kitesurf competition will now be unified under GKA leadership (founded and supported by the main manufacturers), which is fully recognized by the World Sailing association, meaning being able to recognize a true world tour. And because the GKA was founded by the manufacturers, which is key to help develop talents and push the sport forward, we can look forward to a bright future ! and with regards to North America, there is now a real chance a stop will happen in Hood River in August. Stay tuned on that ! that would be amazing to see the likes of Mitu, Camille, Matchu, Airton, Liam, Set, Maxime, Mario, … in action.
Now is the time to show you love F-One & Manera !
F-One introduced the ESL construction with the 2017 collection. Shape are identical with the other available construction. This series has proved to be quite popular, its pricing (cheaper than the more expensive Pro Flex series) being the main attraction but also for the rider who like to wax their board and have a more direct feel with the water. ESL stands for Essential and that the ESL series is a bull bamboo and double bamboo deck construction series, stiffer and super strong (as opposed to the Pro Flex series made of HD Foam Flex composite + heel shock absorber + deck stringer)
