SAUSALITO, CALIFORNIA, – Bluerush® announces they will host the 5th Annual Battle of the Bay on October 17-18, 2015. For those that missed last year’s epic battle on the world famous San Francisco Bay, you will be thrilled to hear they have secured the same venue. The East Beach at Crissy Field proved to offer both competitors and spectators a venue like none other- mind-blowing views of San Francisco’s greatest treasures- Alcatraz Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, Presido National Park and the Marin Headlands, along with the many challenges the Bay presents- ebbs, tides, sailboat regattas and who will ever forget the ocean liner’s wake?I reached out to Chase Kosterlitz, elite SUP racer and Battle of the Bay’s remaining Champion, to see what he thought of our new venue. He stated, “The Battle of the Bay is an amazing event in an amazing location. There are not too many SUP races in the world where you can paddle around two iconic landmarks in the same race. Paddling around Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge are sure to be memories that you will never forget. Definitely put this race on your SUP bucket list!”
Bluerush is proud to host the 5th Annual Battle of the Bay, the largest event and expo of it’s kind in Northern California’s, San Francisco Bay Area. Stand Up Paddle boarders, Prone Paddlers and OC1 watercrafts are all invited to take part in this monumental event. Races will include short courses, distance, a kids course and relays. There will be an award ceremony each day with medals for 1st-3rd places in all races with two divisions- Elite and Open.
On the beach spectators can check out the latest merchandise and equipment from our Sponsors, meet the pros, learn about sports nutrition and even take a yoga class. The MC will entertain with music while also broadcasting the action of the racers as they paddle around Alcatraz, down the shores of the Presidio National Park and around the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Battle of the Bay will also again be host to the Northern California SUP & Prone Championship and the Northern California OC1 Championship by combining the lowest race times of this epic two-day event.On Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th, the Expo will open at 8:00 AM on the East Beach at Crissy Field. Sponsors will have booths showcasing their products and equipment and expert SUP racers will be on hand offering demonstrations. Race times will be determined closer to the date when the BOTB team takes to the water to test the currents and have a better chance of predicting the tides on this years race days.

Registration is not yet open for Battle of the Bay, however Bluerush holds local events throughout the year. March 1st, April 4th and May 17th Bluerush will host the Northern California SUP CUP.
