Chris MacDonald claimed an incredible victory at the 2026 GWA Wingfoil World Cup in Gran Canaria, Spain, taking the top spot in Surf-Freestyle after an unforgettable performance. From landing a perfect 10-point double front flip in the quarterfinals to delivering three high-scoring tricks in the final, Chris showcased his world-class talent every step of the way, stoking out the crowd and his family here at F-One!

“The men’s final showdown pitted Gerard, Acherer, MacDonald, and Castenskiold against each other in insane action from start to finish. The final was intense, with athletes closely matched in points throughout.
Chris MacDonald meant business, landing three scores in the 9s to solidify his lead. Castenskiold trailed by a fraction, followed by Gerard and Acherer, who were almost dead even.
It came down to the final trick attempt — still anyone’s win — but none of the riders managed to improve on their scores.
MacDonald took the win, Castenskiold second, Gerard third, and Acherer fourth. The title race now goes down to the final Surf-Freestyle event in Fuerteventura next week.”

“It’s been almost a year since my last World Cup win so this one feels good. These conditions provide the best freestyle show of the year no doubt so it’s a honor to claim this one. I went to Crete for 2 weeks and my riding felt like it doubled. My consistency was almost perfect and I was constantly landing huge tricks. I scored 29/30 , 28/30 , 28/30 . Scored a 10 and overall had one of the best comps of my life. Now we have a three way title fight headed into Fuerte and the comp starts in 24 hours. let’s get this thing done!”
