After an exciting week in Tarifa, F-One America rider Zoe Trudeau reflects on competing in both the GWA Surf-Freestyle World Cup and the Festival de Viento. Keep reading for Zoes’ recap and highlights from the trip!
“I had the privilege of traveling to Tarifa for both the GWA world tour surf freestyle and the Festival De Viento events. Both were fun, competitive, and taught me new things about competition and wingfoiling. The Festival De Viento is an event that combines racing across three disciplines between windsurfers, kiteboarders, and wingfoilers. Looking back on pictures from the event it was beautiful to see the sky filled with so many colors and disciplines.
While I unfortunately didn’t make the start of my first race due to light wind conditions, I did however make it to the next race where I had the opportunity to place in the final heat. I decided to focus on having fun and enjoying the races. I believe that’s the reason I got the outcome I was looking for because I was simply only worried about running my best race and result. We ran a final heat and I didn’t find out the results until the next day. I knew that whatever the outcome was, it had been a very enjoyable set of races. At the very end they had everyone go back out and run one more race together for fun. It was very exciting to be racing alongside kites and windsurfers, everyone seemed to be smiling.”

“The next day we had awards and I placed 2nd for women. This was my first podium in Europe with hopefully many more to come! On top of the amazing experience at the Festival De Viento the time on the water here has simply been a blast. Everyday is a new adventure and I can’t wait to keep exploring!
