Luca Vuillermet, representing USA, claimed his first Wingfoil World Tour podium finishing in third place at the opening Surf-Freestyle stop of the 2026 season in Leucate, France!
After more than 10 semi-final appearances and in a strong international field of riders from 12 countries, Luca broke through when it counted to secure his spot on the podium in challenging conditions. Throughout the event, athletes were met with consistent light wind, with the final day of this Mondial du Vent even beginning before sunrise to take advantage of a brief Tramontana window.
“This event in Leucate was a breakthrough for me. I finished 3rd at the Mondial du Vent in France, marking my first podium on the GWA World Tour. The level was high and the conditions were challenging, so it came down to staying consistent and executing under pressure.
The semifinals and finals of the men’s competition were held between 7 and 8 a.m., which added another level of difficulty. I was able to land my key tricks bigger and cleaner than others, which made the difference.
This result gives me confidence and motivates me to keep pushing at the next stops on tour.”
