“Spring/Summer 2026 is bringing a fresh evolution to the F-One board lineup, and I’ve been lucky to get early time on the new Rocket FREE Surf boards. This is my personal take on the range, how I use them, and why I think they’re a smart step forward for wing foilers, freeriders, and upwind/downwind laps—especially with the new Pocket Wings and K-Wing disciplines coming into play.”

Two Families, One Concept
Both ranges prioritize length over width to maintain the concept and performance. Going wider compromises the design intent. The FREE DW is an evolution of the original Mid-Length board, with larger sizes approaching DW SUP territory. Smaller DW sizes are great for winging; larger ones shine in SUP downwinders. These boards are designed for stability and comfort on the water, while the FREE Surf excels in the air.
The critical moment in these disciplines is the takeoff—and that’s exactly what these boards are engineered to improve. They’re built to give you the speed, glide, and confidence to lift off smoothly.
My Setup:
Rocket FREE Surf 5’11 & 6’5
I’ve been riding the Rocket FREE Surf 5’11 (63L) and 6’5 (79L) for all my wing foiling, Pocket Wing, and Plume K-Wing sessions.
5’11 x 18.5” x 4.6” – 63L
My go-to board for progressive riding. It’s narrow, thinner, responsive, and perfect for carving with the SK8 foil. I use it for wing foiling, surf foiling on small days, and Frigate Pocket Wing upwind/downwind laps in good conditions 18+ knots.
6’5 x 19” x 5.2” – 79L
I reach for this when the wind is light or the conditions are smaller. The extra length gives me better surface planing speed, making takeoffs easier—especially when paired with the Eagle X foil for early lift and glide.
I’m 6’ tall, 200 lbs, usually in a 4/3 wetsuit—so this setup gives me the right balance of float, control, and performance across conditions.
Why I Like the FREE Shapes
- Narrow width = better carving
- Touchdowns are smooth and don’t interrupt turns
- Length over width = easier takeoff
- Versatility across disciplines
The FREE Surf shape replaces the 2025 Rocket Surf Prone model. Rocker, sizes, outline, and shape are nearly identical, with a subtle deck radius tweak to increase standing surface area without compromising the narrow profile.
My Favorite Foil Pairings (HM 14-80 Mast)
- SK8 1050 + 850 – All-around carving, speed, handling
- Eagle X 1000 – Light wind, early lift, long glide, easy pumping, and great efficiency
The Eagle X is super maneuverable for a 12AR foil and still lets me carve and have fun in small,
light conditions.

The pre-series boards come in a unique colorway and are launching ahead of the full SS26 production. The Spring launch will include the final colorway, and the carbon boards will feature full carbon twin tracks.
