Cabarete, Dominican Republic, September 2025 – Representing Mexico, multidisciplinary athlete and F-One team rider Maxime Lhuillier has once again claimed the Master of the Ocean title, the world’s most complete watersports competition, for the second consecutive year.
This year’s event brought together 18 international riders from Hawaii, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Estonia, Barbados, the United States, Germany, and the Dominican Republic, who competed across surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wingfoiling, and stand-up paddleboarding.
After several days of intense competition, Max successfully defended his crown. The podium was completed by Juan Silvestre (Peru) in second place and Sami Pérez (Hawaii/Dominican Republic) in third place. Windsurfing legend and Caribbean ambassador Brian Talma also delivered a strong performance, finishing in the top 5.
“Winning the Master of the Ocean again here in Cabarete is an incredible honor. This competition is truly unique in the world, as it demands being a complete waterman — mastering different disciplines while always keeping respect and connection with the ocean. I am grateful to my sponsors and to the community that supports me in every wave and every gust of wind,” said Max after his victory.
Maxime also highlighted the equipment that helped him secure the title:
“Throughout the competition I relied on my F-One Bandit x Brainchild 9m, Bandit Tec 12m and Mutual Pro in kitesurfing, along with the Strike 5 Aluula, Rocket Wing Carbon 5’0, and Foil SK8 850 for the light wind sessions, switching to the Escape 630 when the wind picked up. A special thanks to the local F-One shop Liquid Blue for letting me use the Mitu board, which was key in several heats.”
The victory comes after an intense year for Max, who has also been focused on producing his documentary “Ik-Ha, un viaje de viento y mar”, which showcases the beauty and potential of the Mexican Caribbean as a hub for ocean sports and marine conservation. The project has already been filmed and will be published soon.
In addition to his competitive career, Maxime is the founder of Shaka Vibes, his watersports school in Puerto Cancún, where he trains the next generation of athletes and shares his passion for the ocean.
With this new title and his upcoming projects, Maxime Lhuillier continues to establish himself as one of the most complete athletes of his generation and as an international ambassador for ocean culture.
