MacDonald & Vuillermet shine at the Mondial du Vent 2025

The 2025 GWA Wingfoil World Cup in Leucate kicked off the season with fierce competition and signature Tramontana winds, making it one for the books. Among the global field, two American F-One standouts, Chris MacDonald & Luca Vuillermet brought the energy, style, and grit we’ve come to expect in the freestyle division. MacDonald claimed another victory, excelling the level of freestyle above and beyond.

Chris MacDonald opened the week with a commanding performance in the Surf-Freestyle discipline, claiming 1st place with an impressive display of technical skill and consistency. His finals run featured a 9.85-point Palau to Frontside 7 (one of the highest scoring tricks of the event) securing his 3rd consecutive Surf-Freestyle win in Leucate. Chris also showed up strong in the FreeFly-Slalom category later in the week, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most well-rounded and dominant riders on tour.

“Back to back wins for me here in Leucate. This event is always a big one in terms of how you stand in the championship race. My new Strike Aluula handles perfectly in the treacherous winds of tramontana. Going to try and keep up this momentum for the next event in June at Tarifa !”

Joining Chris in the spotlight was Luca Vuillermet, an American rider based in Los Angeles, who splits his training time between La Ventana, Mexico, and Sherman Island in Northern California. Luca had a strong showing in Surf-Freestyle, advancing through several high-level rounds and reaching the semi-finals in a stacked heat. His technical riding and fearless style continue to gain attention as he climbs the rankings on tour.
