Maxime Chabloz claimed his first Kite Freestyle World Championship title at the third and final stop of the GKA Freestyle Kite World Cup 2024.
Maxime clinched the crown by finishing second at this ultimate leg in Qatar, and most importantly ahead of his closest rival, with whom he had begun the day on equal points in the race for the title.
After cruising through his first heat but a semi-final performance on a razor’s edge, Maxime gave his all in the final. With high-scoring opening tricks from his main competitors, the title seemed to slip away from him until he landed a huge Backmobe 7, scoring 9.43.
That ultimately propelled him to second place at this event, which was enough for him to officially become the 2024 World Champion in Kite Freestyle.
“I’m world champion, that’s all I can think of right now,” he said. “It’s something I’ve been dreaming about since I discovered kiting. I think I was seven years old, and I wanted to be the best kiter in the world. It was my biggest dream in life, and it finally happened. It’s been such a journey. But the longer the journey, the sweeter the victory.” – MC
Maxime, now 23 years old, has been part of the F-ONE team for over 10 years, which has allowed us to witness all the hard work and unwavering determination displayed year after year. We’re so incredibly proud of his achievements in the sport and to have been a part of his journey to the top.
