Switzerland’s F-One rider Maxime Chabloz claims first world cup win in the GKA freestyle finals in Cauipe.
After a seemingly endless streak of second-place finishes, Maxime Chabloz claimed his first world cup victory since 2020 at the Copa Kitley GKA Freestyle Kite World Cup in Cauipe, Brazil this weekend.
Maxime was consistent throughout the competition, remaining his usual precise and powered self to win his first heats, which also earned him the highest total of the entire event (33.67) in round three.
It all came down to the wire in the final, as Maxime and former world champion Arthur Guillebert went head-to-head until the very last trick. After a thrilling heat that had everyone on the edge of their seats, our Swiss rider ultimately clinched an emotional victory by only 0.16 points, notably thanks to a perfect 10.0 for a Back Mobe 7.
“I can’t believe it,” he said. “I’m speechless. It’s been a really tough, tough journey. It’s four or five second places in a row and I almost stopped believing in it. It’s tough to keep in there mentally. I’ve worked hard to get there, I’m so happy.”
This win puts him tied at top of the rankings, setting up the stage for a thrilling final showdown at the last stop of the tour in Qatar in December, which will determine who the 2024 World Champion is.
