Six-time World Champion, and still counting!
Charles Brodel was again in a league of his own in the 2024 Copa Kitley GKA Hydrofoil Big Air Kite World Cup in Jericoacoara, Brazil, taking a big win that earned him his sixth world title.
Right from his first heat, Charleswas undoubtedly miles ahead of the field, displaying high-flying and complex tricks, all while making it look effortless. Nobody could come ever close as he ultimately recorded the top three highest scores of the competition.
With a 26.77 in the final — over six points more than the second-place finisher —, Charles cruised to the win thanks to a massive 9.13 for a Contraloop Frontroll Boardoff, 8.87 for a Kiteloop Boardoff, and 8.77 for a Kiteloop Backroll Boardoff.
“I’m super, super, happy to win a sixth world title here in Brazil in great conditions,” he said. “In the good wind in Brazil we’re able to express ourselves. I trained a lot in strong winds for the Red Bull King of the Air in three weeks, so I was a bit scared to ride in lighter conditions, but I managed well here.”
Charles now enters the home stretch for the Red Bull King of the Air (KOTA) in Cape Town, an event in which he qualified for the first time in his career and where he is set to make history as the first rider to compete on a hydrofoil.
