The Qatar Airways GKA Awards, kiteboarding’s biggest and most prestigious event to honor achievements in our vibrant sport, is to take flight for a second consecutive year in Tarifa, Spain.

Kiteboarding’s greatest athletes, their breathtaking achievements on the water and in the air, and outstanding contributions to the sport will be recognized at a gala evening at Tarifa’s Teatro Municipal Alameda on 3 June. Voting is open now.

Today is the last day (May 16th, 2023) to make your voice heard.

Here are spotlighted those individuals who have somehow made a unique contribution to positively influence kiteboarding in the world. It will be given to the kiteboarder who goes above and beyond to help make the world a better place.

The Lifetime Achievement (Legends) award is not only a recognition of an individual’s accomplishments, but also a celebration of their enduring legacy. It serves as a reminder of their unparalleled contribution to the field and inspires future generations to strive for excellence and innovation. The award symbolises the highest level of achievement in kiteboarding and is a testament to the recipient’s lifelong commitment to the sport.

The Photo of the Year Award will typically recognise a single photograph that captures a breathtaking or unique moment in kitesports. The winning image might showcase a rider performing an impressive trick, jumping high above a scenic landscape, or displaying exceptional skill or creativity on the water or in the air.

The Men’s Move of the Year Award will be won by the male kitesurfer who demonstrates the most advanced and committed level of kitesurfing/kiteboarding, in a trick shot between 1 May, 2022, and 17 April, 2023.
